Stratford Hockey Club are doing there part in inspiring the nation of London 2012 by providing a ‘Have a go’ session at Stratford Sports Club as part of the Stratford-upon-Avon Community Games and hosting a Festival Fun Day after the Olympics to allow anyone of all ages and ability to be part of a great sport and great club.

Stratford-upon-Avon Community Games 2012

The thrid annual Stratford-upon-Avon Community Games will be taking place on the Recreation Ground near to the Bandstand on Friday 27th July, 12 noon until 5.00pm.

The event is designed to bring the inspiration of London 2012 to the local community and is free for the family. Activities will include a large mobile climbing wall, puppet shows, a circus skills workshop and traditional sports day games to take part in.

In partnership with this event the Stratford Sports Club on Swans Nest Lane are opening their doors to the public, from 12 noon to 5.00pm, to ‘Have a Go’ at various Olympic and other Sports. Sports confirmed so far are Tennis, Badminton, Squash, Cricket, Hockey and Petanque.

Stratford Hockey Club Festival Fun Day

The Festival Fun Day and Joe Whittaker tournament will take place on Sunday 9th September from 10am – 4pm at Stratford High School and hope you can join in.

The day will consist of a 7 a-side tournament, Into/Back-to Hockey session and a junior session. The day will be followed by drinks on the terrace at the clubhouse.

In addition to the Hockey there will be fete games which will include hook the duck, splat the rat and guess how many balloons in the car and homemade sandwiches and cakes will be on sale. Plus a raffle.
